"Sometimes what you need the most...you don't even know you need."

The Test

Here are the guidelines for taking the test.  No one has asked for your name or email or anything private, so just answer the questions honestly.  When considering whether or not you have broken the Commandment / Law in question, all that matters is that you have broken that Law at least one time in your entire lifetime, regardless of age, value, etc.  Please be patient with this test, I promise there is a good reason that you will see at the end.  Also, we are not trying to judge anyone, as everyone here at Acts III has broken all 10.  Read each description carefully, and then answer with a yes or no:

We will start with the 10th Commandment/Law and work our way upwards.

  • The 10th Commandment says that "You shall not Covet."  The word Covet means to 'desire' or 'wish for' something that is not yours.  This could have been a friend's bicycle when you were a child, a toy, video game, a car, house, job, education, an award, money, sports ability, fame, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, etc.

Have you ever broken this Law by Coveting anything?

  • The 9th Commandment says that "You shall not Bear False Witness."  Simply put, you shall not LIE.  In our society, we tend to blur the lines on sin, we classify lies as little lies, white lies, etc.  The fact remains, if we do not tell 100% of the Truth, it is a 100% LIE.

Have you ever broken this Law by telling at least 1 Lie?

  • The 8th Commandment says that "You shall not Steal."  Have you ever stolen anything?  Again, the value or when it happened is irrelevant. Consider these situations, working in a restaurant and eating a French fry while you work, going to a restaurant and not being charged for a drink & not telling the waitress, getting back to much change, taking an ink pen home from a job, making a long-distance call from work, not paying your taxes, working 'under the table,' writing a check at a business and keeping the pen, borrowing a pencil from a friend in 4th grade and never giving it back...these are all examples of STEALING.

Have you ever broken this Law by Stealing?

  • The 7th Commandment says that, "You shall not Commit Adultery." Now most of us have a wrong idea about adultery.  We think of adultery as a married person having sex outside of marriage.  While that certainly is adultery, it is much more than that in God's eyes.  Adultery is any person having sex outside of the bonds of marriage.  If 2 single people engage in sex, it is adultery.  Also, it does not even take a physical act to make us guilty of adultery.  Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."  So basically, the only person that is innocent of breaking this Law is a person that remained a virgin until after marriage, never had any type of relations outside of that one marriage and never ever had even one impure thought towards another human being.

Have you ever broken this Law by Committing Adultery in Thought or Deed?

  • The 6th Commandment says that, "You shall not Commit Murder."  You think you have a break here, right?  Maybe not.  Just like adultery had a deeper meaning, whereby Jesus equaled lust being the same as adultery, in Matthew 5:21 He also says that even being angry with someone is the same as murder in your heart.  The apostle John also writes that anyone that hates is a murderer in 1 John 3:15.  So anyone that has committed the physical act or murder, or has ever hated or even been angry with anyone for any reason is guilty of murder.

Have you ever broken this Law by Committing Murder by a physical deed or even hating or being angry with someone?

  • The 5th Commandment says that, "You shall honor your Father and Mother."  Have you always honored both parents?  Before answering, consider this; if you have ever gotten in trouble by your parents (spanking, restriction, time-out, etc.) you have dishonored your parents.  If you have broken any other law (God's or man's) you have dishonored your parents.  Even if your parent(s) are deceased, if you have broken a law, you have still dishonored their name.  My father died when I was very young, but I have dishonored him even.

Have you ever broken this Law by Dishonoring your parents?

  • The 4th Commandment says that, "Remember the Sabbath Day Holy, and keep it Holy."  God commanded us not to do any work on the Sabbath.  The Sabbath Day is the 7th day of the week a.k.a. Saturday.  If you have ever done any work on Saturday, then you are guilty of breaking the Sabbath.

Have you ever broken this Law by working on Saturday?

  • The 3rd Commandment says that, "You shall not take the Lord your God's name in vain."  This is not just saying G..D...., it includes that, but is not limited to that.  Anytime we use God's name in a non-reverent way, we are using it in vain.  For example, just stubbing your toe and saying, 'God that hurt,' is taking God's name in vain.

Have you ever broken this Law by taking God's name in vain?

  • WE WILL SKIP THE 2ND COMMANDMENT FOR A SPECIFIC REASON AND COME BACK TO IT SOON.

  • The 1st Commandment says that, "You shall have no other gods before Me."  Have you always put God first in your life?  Before you answer, consider this.  If you have broken any of the previous Commandments, then you have broken this one.  Consider, if you lied, you put you above God. If you stole, you put the item above God. If you committed adultery, your put your fleshly desires above God, etc.

Have you ever broken this Law by placing something above God?
