Standard of Measure Now that you have given your thoughts on what makes someone either Good or Bad, consider this. For most everything around us, we have set standards of measure. A Gallon of milk is the same size whether you buy it at a grocery store or convenience store. A pound is a pound, a mile is a mile, $1 = 100 cents, etc. We have standards of measure that do not change. Each and every person that I have ever asked the Good/Bad question too has given me a different answer I have yet to receive the same identical answer twice, and hundreds have been asked. We all tend to judge others and ourselves by an ever changing rubber ruler. So, do we have an objective, never-changing standard of measure for what makes someone Good? The answer is Yes! First, consider the definition of "Good." According to the dictionary, the word good means, "morally excellent [or] righteous." So what unchanging standard do we have for moral excellency and righteousness? The answer is God. God gave us a Tape Measure to see how we measure up. It measures our level of goodness/righteousness. It is the 10 Commandments. Do you think you have always obeyed the 10 Commandments your entire life?
