The Latest on the Acts III
Orphanage in Malawi

When God first called Randy McEwen to
Malawi 4 years ago, he really did not know why. When he went, he saw
countless children everywhere and unsupervised. There were 5 and 6
year old children carrying around little baby brothers or sisters tied
on their back. He saw only a few thousand of the millions of orphans
in the country. It was truly a heartbreaking sight; one that you
cannot forget.
He knew on that first trip, that was
where the Lord wanted him to minister, but he wasn't sure how.
In the infancy of his and his wife's faith, they started Acts III
Global Ministries...and Malawi was to be the first place God would
produce fruit through the ministry.
After two years of starting churches
& temporary orphan care centers, training pastors, and providing
for food and medicines...the Lord opened a door for Acts III to
purchase a piece of land in Blantrye / Ndirande in southern Malawi. He
was directing us to build a full-time orphanage there.
The Board of Acts III had no idea how to
pay for the orphanage nor how to run the orphanage, but they knew the
Lord was directing then to build the orphanage and trust Him to meet
the needs. So in August 2006, Acts III purchased a small piece
of land and selected a general contractor and an architect to begin
the work.
In August 2006, the ground was broken and
the fence was underway. The nearly 2 acres brick fence was
completed in February 2007. The same month, the leveling of the
land began by hand. By the end of April, the brick substructure of the
14,000 sq.ft. building was completed, and by the first week in June
2007, the slab was finished and the walls were being laid out.
As of July 20, all of the exterior walls were up to above the top of
the window and the ring beam was being poured, and the majority of the
interior walls were up to the same level. All of the windows and
door frames have been set.
As of March 2008, we still need approximately
$157,000 to complete the first phase of the construction of the
orphanage, classrooms, pavilion, terrace work & water towers as
well the interior fixtures, appliances & furniture. $58,000 would
be all it would take to at least make the main building livable.
As the Lord continues to provide the funds, we will
continue to build it and more like it in other parts of Malawi and
anywhere else the Lord sends us. This orphanage will permanently house
96 children as well as all of the live in staff and registered nurse,
but there are more than 20,000 orphans in this one area. 96
hardly scratches the surface, but it is a start.
We would covet your prayers for the work
in Malawi; not only for the work the Lord is doing through Acts III,
but the other missions organizations that are trying to help the
beautiful and precious people in Malawi and the rest of the world.
There are many ways to get involved in what the Lord is doing there.
Pray about how you can be involved either with Acts III or another
organization...the only banner that matters is that of the Lord
Jesus...to Him be the glory.
